2-1-1: WORLD OF ANSWERS

The 2-1-1 of Puerto Rico or Center of Information and Referrals to United Way Puerto Rico is a tool that supports the communities.

Dial to 2-1-1, you can obtain information about our 4,000 private institutions and governmental with resources who attends problems who need necessity of medical equipment, alcoholism, unemployment, gender violence, drug addiction, abandonment of the elderly, homelessness, clothing or food, among others.

More than 100 thousand people have received telephone guidance in the areas of health, education and financial stability, among others.

The service schedule is from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Also the information system is available in 211pr.org from mobile phone or computer.

This Center works serves as a link between individuals and families in need and the public and private agency, that could help solve your situation. Each call is attended by our referral specialists who will confidentially will guide you, taking into account the place where you reside, ease of transportation, economic resources and, above all, your need. The specialists, professionally trained in help techniques and provision of services, they keep following some calls who present problems with greater severities as violence of minors or elderly violence, domestic violence and suicide threats.

This Center possesses a modern computerized system that gathers information about more than 4,000 agencies classified by services, geographic area and population served across the whole island. When dialing 2-1-1, you can obtain information about the agencies who attends problems as need of medical equipment, AIDS, alcoholism, unemployment, domestic violence, violence of minors, drug addiction, abandonment of elderly, lack of housing, clothing or food, among others.

Thanks to a donation made by the Foundation Angel Ramos, in 1993, the Information and Referral Center officially began operations, serving the community. At that time the number used to call was 268-5353 and later, thanks to Sprint’s sponsorship, 1-877-72AYUDA for free calls was added. In 2001, the PR Telecommunications Regulatory Board assigned the use rights of 2-1-1 to United Way Puerto Rico. 2-1-1 of Puerto Rico is available for the use of the entire population, from Monday to Friday on schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. United Way Puerto Rico, the Information and Referral Center is means of communication to identify non-existent or poorly offered services in our communities. Also, is a useful tool and necessary for help professionals such as social workers, psychologists, and counselors. Its use speeds up the referral process to public, private or non-profit service agencies in the country.
